LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#vcacares–For the fifth consecutive year, VCA Animal Hospitals has teamed up with NBC4 to sponsor Clear the Shelters™, a one-of-a-kind pet adoption initiative taking place on Saturday, August 17th. On this day, more than 90 participating shelters in the Southland will adopt out homeless pets into their forever homes for a reduced adoption fee of $20.
“VCA continues to be committed to supporting community animal welfare partners so they can improve the lives of countless disadvantaged dogs, cats and other pets,” said Brandon Antin, VCA Animal Hospital vice president of social responsibility and innovation. “We believe every pet deserves a happy life and that includes receiving proper medical care from a veterinarian, to help them get a healthy start and thrive in their new forever home.”
Participating animal shelters will offer reduced adoption fees and open their doors to find homes for homeless pets. VCA Animal Hospitals’ teams will be onsite at more than 40 community shelters, and all pets adopted during the event will receive a limited health guarantee and a certificate for a Free First Exam, so they can experience the exceptional care offered at VCA Animal Hospitals.
VCA has been supporting the Clear the Shelters™ program since its founding five years ago. This exceptional community effort has grown year over year, with more than 17,000 pets being adopted locally during the 2018 campaign.
Clear the Shelters™ is an initiative led by NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations, a division of NBCUniversal. The initiative has inspired many to open their homes to pets in need, and has helped to alleviate the overcrowded problem at many Southern California animal shelters. Since 2015, the program has resulted in more than 250,000 pet adoptions nationwide. To learn more about the initiative and locate participating shelters, visit www.nbcla.com/cleartheshelters.
